Attorneys representing the People's National Party candidate in South East St Mary, Dr Shane Alexis, have filed a defamation suit in the Supreme Court against President of Young Jamaica Howard Chamberlain in relation to statements made about the medical doctor’s study in Cuba.

The lawyers are claiming that the statements are defamatory of their client.

In a release yesterday, the PNP said attorneys representing Alexis’ interest, wrote to Chamberlain on October 14, 2017 advising him of the defamatory statements in a media release issued under his signature by Young Jamaica

The attorneys demanded a retraction and apology by Tuesday afternoon on terms to be agreed upon by Alexis.

However, the PNP says the deadline passed and both Chamberlain and Young Jamaica failed to respond to the request.
