Coffee blending regulations coming
The government is now moving to develop new regulations for the blending of coffee in Jamaica.
The Ministry of Agriculture says as part of the new regulations no imported coffee will be processed, roasted or packaged for sale in its pure form without a minimum percentage of locally produced coffee.
The ministry says this initiative is intended to give support to the development and expansion of locally grown coffee of all categories.
Agriculture Minister Karl Samuda says the new regulations will come into effect no later than November 15.
