School principal concerned as Trinityville protests continue to affect students

Principal of the Robert Lightbourne High School in St Thomas, Paul Clare, says he’s seriously concerned that students continue to lose valuable classroom time due to protests by residents in Trinityville.

Classes at the school and other institutions were affected for some days last week due to roadblocks mounted by residents to protest poor road conditions.

School attendance has again been affected at Robert Lightbourne High, Seaforth High and other institutions in the parish as upset resident this morning cut down large trees to block sections of the Morant Bay to Cedar Valley main road.

Clare says while he understands the concerns of the residents, he says it’s unfair for students to suffer.

He says several students are preparing for external examinations and he’s concerned that the roadblocks will setback students.

Meanwhile, the authorities this morning cleared the roadblocks but they were remounted by residents.
