Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) says it will phase out cash payments at the Swallowfield Examination Depot in St Andrew as of November 1.

In a release this morning, TAJ said the onsite cash payment facility is being discontinued at the same time as the Island Traffic Authority (ITA) is rolling out its new electronic motor vehicle certification system.

The tax collection agency says customers must now make payments via its online payment system on its website at

A Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) and a valid credit card are required to complete the transaction.

Once an online payment is made customers are able to use the reference number at any ITA location that has implemented the electronic motor vehicle certification system.
