St James top cop among several to be transferred in big police divisional leadership shake-up

With criminals in St James seeming dead set to push the murder total in the parish above the 264 recorded last year, the Police High Command has decided to again change the top cop in the parish.
Come November 10, Senior Superintendent (SSP) Wilfred Campbell will move from the Kingston Central Police Division to replace SSP Marlon Nesbeth in St James.
Campbell had been placed at the helm of the Kingston Central police in June 2016 at the same time that Nesbeth had replaced SSP Steve McGregor in St James.
But with 254 murders recorded in the parish this year, despite a more than month-long zone of special operations in Mount Salem, St James looks set to exceed last year’s record total.
In the latest transfer list seen by The Gleaner, Nesbeth is slated to move to the Border and Security Branch. This is among 14 transfers announced by the High Command.
Other notable moves will see SSP Beau Rigabie moving from St Thomas to the St Catherine North Police Division, which covers the troubled Spanish Town communities, while SSP Robert Bennett leaves St Catherine South, which covers Portmore, to the Area Three Police Headquarters.
The residents of Portmore will have as their new commanding officer SSP Clive Blair who moves from Trelawny.
