Henry summons JUTC chairman and MD to emergency meeting
Transport Minister Mike Henry has summoned the chairman and managing director of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) to an emergency meeting this weekend.
A release from the Ministry of Transport this morning said Henry, who is due to return to the island this evening, wants the chairman to brief him on the current controversy.
The transport minister says he welcomes the probe by the Office of the Contractor General into the matter.
Meanwhile, opposition spokesman on Transport, Mikail Phillips, is insisting that the managing director and Board of Directors of the JUTC should resign.
In a follow-up statement this morning, Phillips said the explanation given for engaging the services of Millenium Security Limited (MSL) by the JUTC managing director, Paul Abrahams, is laced with what he described as half truths.
The Opposition transport spokesman says comments by Abrahams so far have only led to confusion regarding the terms under which the services of MSL was engaged.
Phillips says the JUTC management should release the details of the arrangement with MSL to clear up the confusion.
