NEPA probing oil spill at MoBay Freeport
The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) is investigating an oil spill at berths one and two Montego Bay Freeport Thursday night.
NEPA says its officers as well as the Marine Police, and representatives from the Montego Bay Marine Park have visited the location and are monitoring the situation.
It says residents in the surrounding area may have experienced an odour as a result of the oil spill.
According to NEPA, as the day progresses and wind speed picks up the odour may linger.
In the interim, residents who have respiratory illnesses or who are very sensitive to the odour should avoid the area until more favourable conditions return.
NEPA says in the meantime, clean up action has started.
