Uniformed police corporal shot dead accosting robber in Mandeville
A police corporal attached to the Community Safety and Security Branch at the Mandeville Police Station was shot dead a short while ago in the Manchester capital.
The policeman, clad in his uniform, had just arrived at the Mother's restaurant to purchase a meal when a man approached him and reported that he had just been robbed.
The police say the corporal immediately attempted to accost the alleged robber in the vicinity of the restaurant when he was shot at least three times.
He reportedly managed to respond firing one shot.
The robber then fled but did not take the corporal's weapon.
The corporal was rushed to the Mandeville Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
