St Thomas cops freed of assault charges
Two St Thomas policemen have been freed of assault charges.
Corporal Delroy McDuffus and Constable Adrian Beckford were freed in the St Thomas Parish Court after prosecutors offered no further evidence.
This came after the complainant told the court that he was no longer interested in pursuing the matter.
The case was prosecuted by Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
The policemen were represented by attorney Hensley Williams.
It was reported that the complainant was arrested in 2011 after he was seen by the police blocking the road in the White Horses community and was ordered to remove them but refused.
He was then charged by the police for resisting arrest and blocking the road.
He alleged that during the encounter he was beaten by the policemen.
A report was made to INDECOM which arrested and charged the cops with assault.
