The Government will be undertaking major infrastructure works in Denham Town, where the second Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO) is in progress.

Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, says a social-intervention committee has been gazetted to steer a series of initiatives in the community.

He says the infrastructure works will include road rehabilitation and upgrading of water supply and sewage systems.

Denham Town in West Kingston was declared as the second ZOSO on October 17 and the Prime Minister told the House of Representatives, yesterday, that the report by the joint force on the first 10 days of activities has been promising.

Holness said since the declaration of the Zone, there has been no incident of murder or shootings, and residents are being encouraged to continue to play their part in making the community violence-free.

He informed that more than 40,000 searches have been conducted, which have recovered a shotgun and ammunition, several other weapons paraphernalia, a credit card ‘skimming’ machine and the arrests of seven known “violence producers”.
