Reid says PM's response to Cockpit Country petition coming
Information Minister Ruel Reid has sought to assure Jamaicans that the Andrew Holness administration has the utmost regard for environmental issues.
His comments come against the background of complaints by environmentalists that the government has not responded to a petition regarding the establishment of boundaries for the Cockpit Country.
Environmental groups have charged that the government is yet to make a formal response on the issue despite the expiration of a 30-day deadline.
Responding to concerns from environmentalists who have accused the government of paying lip service to the environment, Reid said the prime minister would be addressing the issue shortly.
Reid, who was speaking at a post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House this morning, said the government was now summarising its position on the matter.
