Petrojam health fair to benefit patrons

Petrojam Limited will host its 12th annual Community Health Fair on Saturday at the refinery (Gate 4).

Held under the theme 'Health and Wellness, the Journey to a Better You', the health fair is one event in a series of the company's 35th anniversary commemorative activities and will benefit residents from Greenwich Town, Tivoli Gardens, and other communities within the environs of the refinery.

This year, patrons will have access to a number of health and social services, including Pap smears, medical examinations, vision screening, cholesterol testing, blood-pressure and

blood-sugar screening, PATH (Programme for Advancement Through Health and Education) registration, heart tests, application for birth, death and marriage certificates from the Registrar General's Department, dental checks and teeth cleaning, free counselling sessions, beautification services from the HEART School of Cosmetology, among others.

All services are free.

Latoya Pennant, public relations officer at Petrojam, said that in accordance with this year's theme, the goal of the health fair is to promote healthy lifestyle among patrons.

"Our health fair caters to the total well-being of the patrons, their physical and mental/ emotional health. As such, we also seek to provide vital social services such as counselling, massage therapy among others," said Pennant.

"Annually, we make it our priority to host this health fair, as it assures us that at least once patrons have access not just to the health services, but to public education material that can empower them to achieve their highest level of wellness," she added.
