High turbidity affecting NWC systems in St Mary, St Catherine

Published:Monday | November 6, 2017 | 5:03 PM

The National Water Commission (NWC) says operations at some of its facilities in St Mary and St Catherine are being impacted as a result of high turbidity.

The NWC says the Rock Spring Filter Plant and the Palmetto Grove Pumping Station in St Mary are being affected.

This has resulted in water supply issues for the communities of Rock Spring, Beecham Hill, Zion Hill, Flint River, sections of Richmond, Essex and Palmetto Grove and surrounding areas.

The NWC says there is a similar situation in  Lluidas Vale, Worthy Park, Tydixon, and surrounding communities due to turbidity challenges at the  Lluidas Vale Filter Plant in St. Catherine.

The NWC says it will restore regular water supply as soon as normality returns to the facilities.
