Latest crime statistics compiled by the police show that up to November 4, the police recovered 739 guns, or 219 more than the number seized for the corresponding period last year.

The seizure is a significant jump when compared to the 7,372 that were recovered over the similar period last year.

Of the 1,359 persons murdered so far this year, 1,113 were killed by a gun.

A gun was also used in 670 robberies and 54 cases of rapes.
