Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton says the timeline for the completion of repairs to the Cornwall Regional Hospital (CRH) might have to be pushed back, due to what he describes as unexpected occurrences.

Tufton gave an update on work being done at the St James-based institution, to journalists at a press briefing held at the ministry’s offices in New Kingston.

He says while progress has been made in getting the facility to a satisfactory standard, the ventilation system is still in need of extensive work.

Tufton has previously stated that the work should be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2018.

However, he says he now believes this timeline might not be met.

Tufton says some of the work could be done by January, which will see diagnostic areas being replaced with digitised ones and an expansion of the accident and emergency section.
