There could be a verdict today in the murder case against dancehall entertainer Ninja Man.

Ninja Man, whose given name is Desmond Ballentyne, is on trial along with his son, Janeil, and another man, Dennis Clayton, for the fatal shooting of Ricardo Johnson, also known as Ricky Trooper, in the Lower Mall Road community in 2009.

During the trial, which is taking place in camera, a total of seven witnesses were called by prosecutors, including three civilians.

Justice Martin Gayle has already started his summation of the case and has reportedly indicated that he intends to turn over the matter to the jury today.

Ninja Man and the two others were arrested and charged in 2009 with murder.

They were also charged with shooting with intent.

The case, which was first mentioned in court in 2009, has had 17 missed trial dates and 23 mention dates in the eight years since the men were charged.

When the trial finally got underway last month in the Home Circuit Court, Justice Martin Gayle revoked Ninja Man’s bail and he was taken into custody.
