'An outstanding individual' - Crime Stop Jamaica mourns passing of Lester Spaulding
The following is a tribute to the late J.A. Lester Spaulding, chairman of the RJRGLEANER Communications Group, from Crime Stop Jamaica.
The National Crime Prevention Fund, Crime Stop Jamaica, mourns the passing of J.A. Lester Spaulding, a founding member of the organisation, and one who helped to nurture and guide its development for more than 24 years.
Spaulding was appointed co-chair of Crime Stop at the launch in 1989, and assumed the chairmanship in March of 1993, a position he was to hold for seven years. When the pressures of his job forced him to give up the chairmanship, his commitment to the organisation remained undiminished as he assumed the position of deputy chairman. He held this position until he resigned from the board in 2013.
During his chairmanship of Crime Stop, and throughout his involvement with the organisation, Spaulding worked tirelessly to endow it with the independence and credibility that it enjoys today.
The board of Crime Stop extends condolences to Spaulding's 99-year-old mother, his wife, his four children, other relatives and the wide circle of persons whom he impacted.
He was an outstanding individual.
