Mayor of Falmouth, Collin Gager.

The Mayor of Falmouth Collin Gager says Seaboard Street, which runs adjacent to the Falmouth Pier in Trelawny, will be reopened as soon as reconstruction work is completed on a section of the roadway.

Gager says the work should be completed by next weekend.

The announcement comes amid concerns by residents, who have complained that the closure of the roadway, almost two months ago, has resulted in major traffic congestion in the town of Falmouth.

Residents also questioned whether the continued closure of Seaboard Street was a backdoor attempt to pedestrianise the roadway to facilitate cruise ship operators.

The Mayor, however, insisted this was not the case.
