The crowd is slowly building at the National Arena, for the 74th annual conference of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).

Bell-ringing, horn-blowing, green-clad supporters mainly from corporate area constituencies have been pouring through the gates of the venue.

JLP leader Andrew Holness is expected to deliver the main address.

St Lucia's Prime Minister Allen Chastanet headlines the list of Caribbean politicians to address the public session.

Among the special features of the conference will be video presentations saluting three stalwarts and two of the young and up-and-coming rising stars in the party.

When Holness takes the stage, he is expected to speak to national issues, although including crime, which has continued unabated, especially in St James, where the first zone of special operations is still in effect.
