The police have identified the vendor killed yesterday in the vicinity of the May Pen market in Clarendon as 40-year-old Charmaine Graham otherwise called ‘Valda’ of Ballards River, Chapelton, Clarendon.

The May Pen Police say about 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon, Graham was stabbed during an altercation with a teenager in an attempted robbery.

She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The teenage boy was subsequently handed over to the Police by residents of the Farm community.

The murder caused anger among vendors, with President of the May Pen vendors’ association, Lorraine Greene Mason blaming lack of security in the market as a factor in the death.

She said vendors have been chased off the streets and into the unsecured market, making them targets for criminals.
