Increased police presence for MoBay leading up to Christmas season

Commissioner of Police George Quallo says the number of security personnel patrolling the streets of Montego Bay and surrounding communities in St James will be scaled up significantly to maintain order leading up to the Christmas season.

Commissioner Quallo says the redeployment of personnel is in an effort to ensure the safety of the residents and to target those who are causing problems in the parish.

Commanding Officer of Area One, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Donovan Graham, says the military will be a key component of the patrols and surveillance.

ACP Graham says residents can rest assured that the police will go into the festive season and into 2018 with more pointed operations, targeting the men that have continued to impact crime and violence.

Both men were speaking at a press conference last Thursday at the Freeport Police Station following a tour of sections of Montego Bay.

The tour included Granville and Glendevon communities, which the police commissioner described as areas of some concern.
