CAC urges consumers to be cautious when buying electrical appliances
The Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) is advising members of the public to exercise caution when purchasing electrical equipment and appliances during the Christmas season.
The warning comes against the background of an increase in complaints for the first six months of the current financial year.
The CAC says between April and September this year consumers filed 196 complaints related to electrical equipment and appliances.
This compares to 179 complaints related to electrical equipment and appliances that were filed over the corresponding period last year.
Communication specialist at the CAC, Dorothy Campbell, urged consumers to read all labels and manuals carefully when buying such equipment.
