The National Works Agency (NWA) says it will be implementing changes to the flow of traffic in the towns of Mandeville and Christiana in Manchester, come Thursday.

It says, between Thursday and Saturday, Lower Manchester Road in Mandeville will be converted to a one-way between the traffic lights at Fesco and the Bascho store with traffic only being allowed to continue right on to Mandeville Plaza Road.

All traffic within this area will exit on to Perth Road.

Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says vehicles travelling from the direction of the Mandeville Plaza will therefore not be allowed to enter Manchester Road.

Shaw adds that starting on Saturday, December 23 new traffic changes will be implemented with a section of the town being closed off to all through traffic.

Meanwhile Main Street in the town of Christiana will be converted to a one-way for vehicles travelling from the direction of Trelawny.

Vehicles entering the town from Mandeville are being asked to use the Christiana bypass.

Traffic will return to the normal flow in both towns starting Sunday, December 24 at noon.

The traffic changes and restrictions form part of efforts to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow in the main towns during the busy Christmas season.
