Gov't to introduce online trade info and business registration portal
The government says it will be setting up an online trade information portal that will also facilitate electronic registration of businesses.
Industry and Commerce Minister Karl Samuda says enabling online business registration will be the next step in the process of making doing business in Jamaica easier.
He says this will also improve the country’s ranking in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report.
The portal will contain all regulatory trade-related information and other information useful for facilitating trade to Jamaican importers and exporters, investors and potential investors, on a single integrated website.
When implemented, Jamaica will also satisfy Article 1 of the World Trade Organization Trade Facilitation Agreement, which requires parties to ensure that trade information is public and available.
