There were howls of excitement and hugs and kisses all around as Jerome McPhail, real estate agent at Re/Max Elite, emerged the winner of the JN 'Off You Go' promotion 2017.

McPhail was surprised by representatives of the JN Bank at his Half-Way Tree offices on December 14, 2017, where he was presented with the top prize of an all-expense paid trip for two to Hawaii.

"It's unbelievable. This is a real shock. I knew I did well and I knew I did much better than last year, but I really didn't expect to win," he said.

McPhail, an agent at Re/Max for the past two years, said he was motivated by helping people realise their real estate goals and dreams.

He had high praises for the JN Bank Mortgage Centre, which he said made his job much easier by providing excellent rates and service to customers.

The JN 'Off You Go' promotion, now in its fourth year, targets affiliates in the real estate industry, developers and realtors, who vie for attractive prizes and cash incentives for successful mortgage referrals to the bank.

Petal James, head of mortgage sales at JN Bank, said the initiative continues to be a demonstration of JN's commitment to working with professionals in the real estate industry, to make home and property ownership a reality for more Jamaicans.

James said the promotion has also strengthened the working relationship between JN Bank and realtors, which has redounded to the benefit of customers and the wider real estate sector.

"We welcome the growing possibilities for the mortgage and real estate industries, as it is evident that the demand for housing and mortgages has increased. And while we remain optimistic, based on market trends, we continue to place emphasis on working with our valued realtors and developers to benefit the sector," James said.

The second-place prize went to Sandra Thompson of Coldwell Banker, who won an all-expense paid trip for two on a guided food and wine tour to the United States. Thompson, who was also stunned by her placement in the competition, said she would be working towards even more referrals for next year's renewal of the competition.

"I am looking forward to even bigger and better things next year, as working with JN has been a pleasure for both me and my clients. In fact, most of my clients use JN, because they offer the best mortgage rates in the market," she said.

For third-place finisher Karen Ottar of Karen Ottar and Associates, the JN Off You Go promotion "was an excellent incentive for real estate agents".

Ottar received an Advance gas card valued at $250,000, plus a one-year Jamaica Automobile Association membership.

The JN Off You Go promotion ran from January to July 2017.
