Police Federation urges cops to disregard 'false' WhatsApp message about wage offer

The Police Federation is urging rank-and-file police personnel to disregard a message being circulated on social media that its executive was offered a 10 per cent wage increase by Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

In the message that is being circulated on WhatsApp, it's reported that the offer of six per cent in year one and four per cent in year two was made during a meeting with Holness on Thursday night.

The message was issued under the name of Corporal Arlene McBean, who is a member of the Police Federation executive.

However, in dismissing the message, McBean said not only was it false, but demonstrates how low persons will go to tarnish the reputation of the federation.

She says there has been no meeting with the Prime Minister on their wage demand.
