A 58-year-old man was killed this morning in what appears to be a hit-and-run incident on the Old Folly main road in St Ann.

The dead man has been identified as Donald Webb, otherwise called Danny, a welder of Jack Lodge, Discovery Bay.

Reports from the Discovery Bay police are that about 5:40 a.m., a team was on patrol when they got reports of a body seen along the roadway and went to investigate.

On arrival they also saw a damaged pedal cycle.

Investigations revealed that Webb, along with his grandson, were riding along the road when they were hit by a motorcar which did not stop.

They were taken to hospital where Webb was pronounced dead. The grandson was treated and released.

The Discovery Bay police are appealing to anyone who can assist in their probe to contact them at 972-2233, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
