JUTC pushes back rate hike plans for Premium Express Service

The state-own bus company, the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), has pushed back implementation of a rate hike for its Premium Express Service.

The rates were to go up on Monday, January one, but the JUTC says the increase has been postponed to the end of March.

The bus company says the delay in the adjustment is to allow for a fare review.

Meanwhile, the JUTC says starting January 15, 2018 it will reintroduce the mandatory use of the Smartercard on its premium service.

Passengers are therefore being urged to obtain a card because cash will not be accepted on these buses.
