There was high drama in the resort town of Ocho Rios in St Ann yesterday after an altercation resulted in a man being fatally stabbed and a chase that ended with a policeman being shot in the buttocks by his colleague.

Dead is 21-year-old Nakeem Gardner of Pimento Walk, Ocho Rios.

Reports are that Gardner was in the company of friends at Little Dunns River when an argument developed between him and a man who was among a group of persons said to be visiting from St Catherine.

It's reported that the brother of the man from St Catherine brandished a knife and stabbed Gardner in the neck.

He was taken to the St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The attacker, his brother and two other men fled the scene in a Toyota Probox motor car which was later intercepted by a police team.

It's reported that the men exited from the car and a tussle ensued between a policeman and one of the men from the vehicle.

A policewoman reportedly pulled her service weapon and fired two shots.

It was later discovered that one of the shots hit her colleague in his buttocks.

He was taken to hospital where he received treatment and was released.

The men from the car were subsequently taken into custody.
