A St Catherine man who fired shots at a party on New Year’s Day has been arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

Fifty-year-old Leroy Fennel, otherwise called Daddy Ran, a salesman of Mount Industry in the parish, is also charged with escaping police custody.

He is scheduled to appear before the Linstead Parish Court on Wednesday, January 10.

The police say Fennell was at a party being held in the Bamboo Ridge community when he allegedly pulled a gun and fired two shots.

Lawmen responded and he was accosted and searched and a Glock 17 pistol with a magazine containing 12 nine millimetre rounds of ammunition was allegedly found in his possession.

The police say he was taken to the Glengoffe police station and while being processed he assaulted a cop and escaped.

He was recaptured.
