Janice Budd ... died on Tuesday afternoon, losing her battle with cancer.

There have been several tributes in memory of late journalist Janice Budd.

Budd died on Tuesday afternoon, losing her battle with cancer.

She worked in media for about 20 years at the Jamaica Information Service, Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation, CVM TV, RJR/Television Jamaica and the Jamaica Observer.

Budd left media to work in communications at the National Commercial Bank and later the Shipping Associations

Here are some of the tributes in memory of Budd:

Journalist and communications professional Janice Budd was one of the hardest-working and most talented people in the business. Her death is a significant loss to the profession, as well as a deeply personal loss to the many people whose lives she touched.
Dionne Jackson Miller, President, Press Association of Jamaica

Apart from being an excellent journalist, Janice was a generous, loving person who made friends wherever she went. She was also, however, an outspoken, feisty, no-nonsense woman who spoke up for what she believed in. She was passionate about issues involving children and the environment, both themes that often figured in her work, and she loved having the opportunity to bring people’s stories to life and to national attention.
PAJ Vice President Karen Madden

The media fraternity and the country have lost not just another journalist of worth but a woman who was at the forefront in changing the view of what the image of the female television presenter should be. By being herself, comfortable in her beauty, Janice helped other women to love and accept their own beauty.
Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport

RIP Janice Budd. So sorry to lose another of our media workers. God knows best.
Information Minister Ruel Reid

The untimely passing of senior journalist Janice Budd is another major blow to the nation's media. We offer our condolences to Janice's family, friends and colleagues. Over the past months, unfortunately, three stalwarts have been lost. Even as the profession is again plunged into mourning, journalists and other media workers continue to provide critical service to the society.  May her soul rest in peace.
Dr Peter Phillips, Opposition Leader
