Two men are in custody following the seizure of a CBRPS Bullpup SKS assault rifle after a Toyota Vitz motorcar in which it was being transported was intercepted on Greenvale Road in Mandeville, Manchester, on Saturday, January 6.

Charged with illegal possession of firearm are 28-year-old Lamornth Jackson of Bois Content in St Catherine, and 25-year-old Ricardo Lewis of Portmore, St Catherine.

Reports from the Mandeville police are that at about 9:35 a.m., a police team was on patrol in the area when the driver of a grey Toyota Vitz motor car, which was being driven by Jackson in a dangerous manner, was signalled to stop.

The police searched the vehicle and found the firearm in the back seat of the motor car. They arrested and charged Jackson and Lewis.

Jackson was also charged with dangerous driving.

Their court dates will be announced at a later date.
