MP Natalie Neita charged with assaulting former co-worker
Opposition Spokesperson on Sports Natalie Neita is to answer to a charge of assault after allegedly punching a man to the ground along Spanish Town Road in Kingston.
She was arrested and charged this morning and granted station bail this afternoon.
A statement from her attorney, Sean Kinghorn, released by the Opposition People’s National Party, confirmed that Neita has been charged with the common assault of Kevin Buchanan.
Her attorney says Buchanan is a former employee of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica, where Neita is a human resource consultant.
Kinghorn claims Neita was defending herself from a menacing Buchanan when she punched him.
He also claims the complainant called her a derogatory name and that the incident stems from an employment issue.
Kinghorn says Neita refutes allegations that she wronged the complainant and intends to defend herself in court.
