UPDATE: Case against St Thomas mother rescheduled, social enquiry report not ready
The absence of social a enquiry report has delayed the court case of the St Thomas mother who was seen in a video beating her daughter with a machete.
The case was called up in the Morant Bay Parish Court this morning.
The court was told the report was not ready.
The case was then rescheduled to February 9 at which time the judge would make a decision as to sentencing.
At the previous court appearance woman's lawyer has asked the court to indicate what sentence it would impose if she were to plead guilty.
The 44-year-old mother is charged with cruelty to a child.
She was charged by the police on October 6 and was subsequently offered bail.
The video shows the partially nude mother beating the girl violently with a machete while cursing expletives.
The police said their investigation revealed that the incident happened last year.
