Portland teen feared drowned in river

Local divers along with the Marine Police are to resume their search Monday for an 18-year-old male, who is suspected to have drowned in a river near the Olivier Housing Scheme in Buff Bay, Portland on Sunday afternoon.

Niko Murray who lives in the Woodstock Housing Scheme in Buff Bay went missing shortly before 2 p.m. while swimming at an area known as River Mouth.

He disappeared shortly after he reportedly got into difficulty.

The police say despite attempts by his friends to rescue him, he was swept  away by a high tide.

The Marine Police in Port Antonio were alerted and a search began with assistance from divers in  the community.

However, they were unsuccessful up to late Sunday.
