JDF sets up email account after strong response to St James tip line
The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) says there has been a positive response from the public to its tip hotline, set up as part of the measure to fight crime under the state of public emergency in St James.
The state of public emergency was declared last week Thursday and the JDF says since then the hotline has been flooded with calls and whatsapp messages which have been very helpful to intelligence officials.
The tip line is 837-8888.
The JDF says in light of the strong response, it has set up an email address for persons to use as an additional channel of giving information to the security forces.
The address is: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The JDF says like the hotline, the email is secure and confidential.
Civil Military Cooperation and Media Affairs Officer of the JDF, Major Basil Jarrett, says the army wanted to create an easy, convenient, confidential and secure channel for persons to share information about criminals and criminal activity.
He says the number and email address are manned and operated by JDF soldiers on a 24-7 basis and there is no need for persons to identify themselves or their location.
