Man seen leaving crashed vehicle with gun after shooting held by police

Quick action by a Policeman resulted in the seizure of a firearm and the detention of one man, following a fatal shooting on Henderson Avenue, Kingston 11 on Saturday.

The dead man has not yet been identified.

Information garnered from the Olympic Gardens Police are that about 7:45 in the evening, explosions were heard coming from a motor vehicle that was travelling along Henderson Avenue.

A man was shot and injured.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and subsequently crashed into a utility pole.

Shortly after, he was allegedly seen exiting the vehicle with a firearm in his hand.

He reportedly attempted to flee but was accosted by a cop.

He was allegedly held and a Browning pistol, with a magazine containing two rounds of ammunition seized.

Both injured men were taken to hospital where the unidentified man was pronounced dead and the other man admitted under police guard.

Lawmen are appealing to anyone with additional information that can assist their investigations to come forward.
