Ganja valuing $16.3m seized at Port Bustamante
The police have made another major drug bust.
This time, investigators have recovered 4,083 pounds of ganja, which has an estimated street value of $16.3 million at Port Bustamante in Kingston.
The Narcotics Police says they are following strong leads.
The police say yesterday afternoon security guards at the port became suspicious of a 40-foot container that arrived earlier in the day on a trailer truck
They say the guards went to inspect the container and notice that the seals were not genuine.
The guards then called in the police and the Jamaica Customs Contraband Enforcement Team who searched the container and reportedly found 37 bags containing a combined total of 747 parcels of compressed ganja.
The drugs were seized.
No arrest was made in connection with the seizure.
