Trinidad increases Jamaican bananas order
Agriculture Minister Karl Samuda has welcomed news that Trinidad and Tobago has increased its weekly order of Jamaican bananas.
Jamaica began exporting bananas to the twin-island republic in December, following the signing of a six month contract.
Jamaica currently sends one container or about 900 boxes of bananas to Trinidad each week.
Samuda says the ministry has now received word that Trinidad wants three containers a week.
The government has been working to consistently increase the exportation of bananas through the Banana Export Expansion Programme.
