St James taxi operator held in St Elizabeth charged with rape, buggery

The St James taxi operator held last week during a police dragnet in St Elizabeth, has now been charged with rape and buggery.

The police say 46-year-old Donald Reid, otherwise called ‘John’, is of a Portobello, St James address.

The St Elizabeth dragnet targeted individuals believed to have fled from St James because of the state of public emergency there.

The police are appealing to Jamaicans to call Crime Stop at 311/ 811 or the tip line at 837-8888, if the have information that can lead to the arrest of wanted persons and the seizure of firearms and ammunition.

They are also reminding anyone who may be hesitant to call or share information that the life they save may be their own.
