New boss aims to deliver value at business network

A career banker with more than 30 years' experience, Heston Hutton is quickly embracing his new role as chief executive officer (CEO) of Baker Tilly Tax and Advisory Services (BTAS).

The advisory portfolio has extended the reach of Baker Tilly, an international accountancy and business advisory network that has its headquarters in London and started functioning in Jamaica in February 2014 as Baker Tilly Strachan Lafayette. The firm provides services to more than 200 clients locally and has access to the Baker Tilly network of 30,000 global professionals in over 147 countries.

At a recent BTAS cocktail reception, many of those clients numbered among the over 400 guests. Hutton encouraged them not to consider the company as a consultancy firm, but one which is vested in client relationships, with a simple strategy to "deliver value that is relevant".

Married and with three daughters, Hutton also performs duties as a justice of the peace in St Andrew.

He is a former CEO of JaMobile Payment Services Limited, the operators of CONEC Mobile Wallet. He is also co-owner of MCONEC, technology provider to the Conec Mobile solution.

Prior to that, he was managing director of Centralised Strategic Services Limited.

Hutton balanced this with his then substantive role as assistant general manager for strategic development and planning at the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League, where he oversaw the development of the national strategic plan for credit unions.
