At least one courtroom has been opened at the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston where Justice Jennifer Straw is postponing all cases.

Operations at the Supreme Court had been at a standstill since 10 o’clock this morning after judges from across the island went into a meeting.

The meeting, sources say, is to discuss the continued refusal of Prime Minister Andrew Holness to permanently appoint Bryan Sykes Chief Justice.

"I only came into release the jurors and I've been ambushed," Straw told an attorney who was seeking to make a bail application on his client's behalf.

The meeting is still underway and refreshments were delivered to the judges a short time ago.
