Malaria-infected passenger who arrived in Jamaica returned home

The local authorities have returned a malaria-infected passenger, who arrived in Jamaica on Saturday from Guyana, to his country.

Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton says he was detected during routine screening at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.

He says the passenger was then quarantined.

The health authorities reported two imported cases of malaria last month.

Jamaica has remained malaria-free for over five consecutive years.
