Police launch high-level probe into audio clip of teen claiming to be next school shooter
The Police High Command says it has assigned a high-level team to probe an audio clip with a voice suspected to be that of a teenager claiming he will be the next school shooter.
The teenager is believed to attend a prominent high school in Kingston.
The circulation of the audio clip on social media reportedly sparked panic among some parents who rushed to the school to pick up their children.
In a release this morning, the Police High Command said an active multi-agency probe was under way and the matter was being given the highest level of attention.
It says the investigative team is headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police.
This has come on the heels of the latest school shooting in the United States where an expelled student shot and killed at least 17 persons in Parkland, Florida.
In the meantime, the police are urging individuals to desist from circulating the audio clip saying it may cause undue anxiety at this time.
