A total of 30 persons were arrested by the Narcotics Police following the seizure of more than 700 pounds of ganja in Westmoreland yesterday.

According to the police, the group, which included 16 women, was apprehended at a house in Orange Hill as they were allegedly preparing the ganja for export.

Investigators say the ganja is valued at $2.8 million.

They are to be questioned in the presence of their attorneys and could face criminal charges.

This is the second major drug bust in Westmoreland this month.

On February 6, 11 persons, including four Costa Ricans, were arrested by the Narcotics Police in the community of Sweet River following the seizure of approximately 1,000 pounds of ganja valued at $4 million.
