The final member of a criminal organisation wanted by United States authorities on lottery scam related charges is in police custody this evening.

He has been identified as 29-year-old Gareth Billings, of Greenwood, St James.

The police report that Billings was apprehended by members of the Fugitive Apprehension Team in Smokey Vale, St Andrew last evening.

He is among 14 Jamaicans charged in the State of North Dakota with wire fraud, mail fraud, money laundering, conspiracy and attempting to commit wire fraud.

Prosecutors in North Dakota alleged that the group was part of the Lavrick Willocks organisation that used the lottery scam to bilk some 80 elderly American citizens out of US$5.6 million.

Willocks has already been extradited to the US and has reportedly agreed to plead guilty while some of the alleged co-conspirators, including police constable Jason Jahalal, are awaiting trial in the US.
