Chairman of Stewart’s Automotive Group Diana Stewart is the recipient of the 2018 International Humanitarian Peacock Award.

Stewart received the award on Saturday night at the Jamaica Charity Gala put on by the American Friends of Jamaica at the JW Marriot Marquis Hotel in Miami, Florida.

The event was also used to raise funds for charity activities including school-building projects in Jamaica.

Stewart was hailed for her sterling philanthropic work in education, health and social development over several decades.

She was instrumental in the establishment of AmCham Place, Jamaica's first community policing facility in Grants Pen, St Andrew.

AmCham Place also houses the state-of-the-art Edna Manley Health Clinic.

In addition, Stewart has assisted with several scholarships and the building of several basic schools.

American businessman and former president of the American Chamber of Commerce, Ron McKay has congratulated Stewart.

"To say that Diana Stewart epitomises true Jamaican spirit is an understatement. I have truly learned from her quiet strength,  hospitable demeanour and insurmountable work ethic. Those traits are key to the success of her many positive and expansive philanthropic efforts," McKay said.
