EOJ says all in place for April 27 by-elections
The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) says all is in place for Friday's by-elections in the May Pen North and Yallahs divisions.
In a statement, the EOJ says a team has worked diligently to ensure the timely preparation and distribution of all materials, adding that training has been completed for all 168 Election Day workers.
"Polls open at 7 a.m. and will close at 5 p.m., after which the preliminary counting of ballots will take place”.
“There are 8,286 registered voters in the May Pen North division and 9,145 in Yallahs. Voting will take place in 61 polling stations across the two electoral divisions. Only electors registered to vote in these electoral divisions will be allowed to vote in the upcoming elections.”
The EOJ is reminding candidates that all election campaigning should stop on Thursday, April 26.
Electors are also being reminded to take their voter ID card to the polling station.
The EOJ says electors without a voter ID card will be allowed to vote, however, this will lengthen the voting process.
Electors are also cautioned that the use or display of cell phones and cameras is not allowed inside polling stations on Election Day.
