The police have issued an alert advising motorists to avoid using the Aenon Town main road in Cave Valley, St Ann due to flooding.

The police's Corporate Communication Unit says the roadway is now impassable and motorists should use alternative routes.

The Ramble Hill and Montpelier main roads at the border of Trelawny and St James are inundated with flood waters.

Motorists are also being advised to proceed with caution.

The Meteorological Service says most of the island is expected to be affected by heavy rainfall due to a Trough west of the island.

As a result, it says the weather system is expected to influence weather conditions, resulting in moderate to heavy rainfall over sections of the island.
