Corporate Hands | Power company gives back to school community

Children of Bowerbank Basic School are a picture of delight as they grab at the bubbles being blown by Roxell McKenzie, HR assistant, Jamaica Private Power Company (JPPC), who, along with Denise Samuels, JPPC’s HR and training manager (nestled among the children) and others were on hand last Friday to deliver toys, supplies and smiles to children from various schools in the east Kingston community to mark National Children’s Day as part of the company’s annual ‘Happy Faces’ programme. The initiative, now in its third year, is a staff-led project which includes the JPPC staff purchasing toys and schools supplies during May, with the company matching such donations, before the items are distributed to the schools in the community. This is the first year the distribution of the donations coincided with the nation’s observance of National Children’s Day.
